The Red Lion is located in Martlesham and is a Chef & Brewer pub which is part of the Greene King pub chain.
Woodberry has a good reputation within the Greene King pub chain and is one of their nominated outdoor furniture suppliers. This led to us being selected as one of the suppliers asked to tender for this amazing refurbishment.
First Contact & Requirements
The Red Lion were looking to create an enticing outdoor area inspired by the British countryside. They required a complete sweep of high-quality and aesthetic outdoor furniture. We worked with Adam at Spatialized, a Greene King designer for the Chef and Brewer brand, to pull together furniture designs that matched this high-quality, British brief.
We were one of three companies tendering for the trade but Woodberry were chosen to supply as we were able to match Adam’s product specification exactly at a competitive rate and in a timely manner. Adam was also impressed with the quality of our furniture and trusted that they would give the project great longevity. We were also able to provide a prompt project quotation.
The Process
After being selected as the furniture supplier for this project, we agreed on a delivery and fitting date.
The majority of outdoor furniture selected for this project was from the Woodberry range but select items were off-catalogue. For the off-catalogue items, we were able to source them quickly from local supply chains within our expansive supplier network ensuring they would arrive within the parameters of the project.
Once we were in possession of all the furniture for the project we provided a full installation service, on time and in full. Since completing the project, our team of experts have been available to support on after service and will be available, if necessary, for the 6 month project review.
Elements of The Project
This project consisted of a variety of furniture options from our 6-seater and 8-seater a-frame picnic tables to round Roble tables and square Harbury tables accompanied with a variety of comfortable side chair and armchair options. We then provided high quality 2.1m cream parasols to protect customers from the sun throughout the hotter months.
The large Roble tables were a feature element of this refurb. With its large size, stunning circular surface pattern and high-quality build, it is a statement within this outdoor space. We were very impressed with this table, so we now offer this table as part of the Woodberry range.
We sourced some fantastic armchairs within this project which have created a cosy and inviting outdoor atmosphere. One type was a wicker bistro armchair and the other two were rope chairs. We additionally sourced polished brass table numbers. If there are any elements needed within a project that are outside of the Woodberry range we are able to source them from our great supplier network.

Three weeks post furniture installation, The Red Lion reported that they have been inundated with 20 requests about where they got their furniture from. That’s a request almost every day!
